Brooke Coburn

Director

Brooke's Bio

Brooke grew up, undrafted, in far northern New York where dark winter nights were illuminated by Don Cherry’s broadcasts of “Hockey Night in Canada” drifting south across the border. His favorite hockey memories are the 1980 “Miracle” game, the Quebec Nordiques’ Stastny brothers’ line, the 1988 “Frozen Four“ series in Lake Placid, and the Washington Capitals’ Stanley Cup championship in 2018. He is a lifelong hockey enthusiast and began his coaching career in New York City in 1993 and, more recently, spent 10 years with the Montgomery Blue Devils youth organization in Rockville, MD. He is a co-owner of the Washington Little Capitals Tier I club in Virginia. Most of Brooke’s most valuable life lessons came from playing the game of hockey, and he is a strong believer that everyone should have the ability to play, regardless of financial means. When not playing or coaching, Brooke is Deputy Chief Investment Officer and Chief Operating Officer of Carlyle’s Real Assets segment, which includes Carlyle’s energy, power, infrastructure and real estate investment activities. He serves on the firm’s Management Committee.

Marc Eigner

Director

Marc's Bio

Marc fell in love with hockey watching the New York Rangers growing up. His parents were from New York City, and had no skating or hockey experience, nor could afford to put him into hockey. But without ever skating, Marc became a student of the game. Serendipitously, Marc ended up at Rensselaer, a D1 hockey school. He learned to skate and play hockey by tenaciously heading to the Houston Field House every single weekday at lunch for a year. Years later, Marc became even more involved when his identical twin sons fell in love with hockey and are now playing defenseman and goalie for the Tier 1 NJ Rockets 2008 team. Trying to make up for the lack of lifetime skills that most coaches have, Marc became a CEP 4 level certified coach, and loves every minute of sharing his love of hockey with his sons.

Through hard work, and some luck, Marc has been successful in business, having co-founded and sold a major pharmaceutical software business; followed by stints as CEO and CCO of similar companies. Marc is proud to be on the board of the Black Bear Foundation and looks forward to giving back by providing the opportunity to play hockey that he did not have.
